I’m a student at Sacred Heart in New York City, where I focus on literature, writing, and the arts. I believe that words, stories, and ideas have the power to change the way we see the world. Tutoring, to me, is a dialogue. It’s about listening closely, asking the right questions, and guiding someone toward clarity until the subject feels less like a wall and more like a door. I try to make learning a conversation, not just instruction.

I want to tutor because I know how transformative it can feel when a subject suddenly “clicks.” I’ve seen friends go from doubting themselves to writing essays or solving problems with confidence, and I want to help other students experience that same shift.

I’ve helped classmates workshop essays and presentations, offering feedback on clarity, grammar, and style. I’ve also mentored younger students at my school in creative writing, which taught me the value of encouragement and patience when someone is still finding their confidence.

I approach difficult concepts by slowing down and building connections. For example, if we’re reading a challenging text, I’ll break it into smaller passages and compare it to something familiar—like a film scene, a song lyric, or even a personal story. I find that making the abstract concrete helps students discover meaning on their own.

I’ve published short stories and poems in my school’s literary journal and contributed to an arts magazine. Traveling has given me new perspectives that inspire my writing, and I hope to continue blending creativity with academics in everything I do.

My favorite subject to tutor is English literature, because it combines imagination with critical thinking. I enjoy helping students find their own voice in essays, or showing them how even the hardest texts can open up when read carefully.
