I’m from Manhasset, and I spend most of my time split between track and film. Whether I’m working behind a camera or running at a championship meet, I’ve learned how to focus and lead by example.Tutoring for me is about more than just helping someone pass a test—it’s about showing them they can approach problems with confidence. I like to use creativity to explain concepts in ways that are clear and memorable.

I want to tutor because I know how much it helps to have someone guide you through challenges instead of facing them alone. On the track team I’ve seen how explaining training strategies to teammates makes them faster and more confident, and I believe academics work the same way. Tutoring gives me the chance to share what I’ve learned while helping others succeed.

I’ve mentored younger runners on my track team, especially during county meets where nerves are high. I’ve also helped classmates edit essays and presentations, often using my film background to help them make their points clearer. Those experiences taught me that encouragement and clear feedback go a long way.

I usually start by breaking the problem down into smaller steps and finding a creative example to connect it to. For example, when I helped a classmate with essay structure, I compared it to building a short film: intro is the “opening shot,” body paragraphs are the “scenes,” and the conclusion is the “final cut.” Analogies like that make tough concepts easier to grasp.

I directed and edited a short film that was showcased at a local student film festival, combining my love of storytelling with technical skills. Winning the county championship in track was another proud moment because it proved that dedication pays off.

I enjoy tutoring English the most because I love storytelling and connecting ideas. Whether it’s writing essays or analyzing a novel, I like helping students see that writing can be creative and personal, not just rules and structure.

County Champion in the 400m track event, Honor Roll student, Film Club Award for Best Short Film.
