I’m from Sayville, Long Island, and I’m a student-athlete who splits my time between school, hockey, and soccer. I like to challenge myself both on the ice and in the classroom, and I bring the same effort and focus to tutoring that I bring to sports. As a tutor, I believe in teamwork—just like on the ice. I enjoy breaking down tough problems step by step, and I make sure students feel confident by practicing together until the concept really sticks.

I want to tutor because I know how much it helps to have someone explain things in a way that makes sense. A lot of my teammates and friends come to me when they’re struggling with math or history, and I’ve realized I actually enjoy teaching. Helping someone go from being stressed about a subject to finally understanding it feels really rewarding.

I’ve helped classmates and teammates study for math and history quizzes, especially before big tests. I also work with my younger cousin who’s in middle school, and I’ve learned that patience and re-explaining things in a different way is often the key to helping them understand. Those experiences showed me I can adjust my approach depending on who I’m working with.

When a concept feels tough, I break it into smaller pieces and use examples that connect to everyday life—sometimes even hockey. For example, if I’m explaining probability, I’ll relate it to taking shots on goal. I also encourage students to try solving the problem themselves after I show them, because practice builds confidence.

I’ve played hockey for over 10 years and earned the role of assistant captain because of my leadership and work ethic. Balancing sports, school, and tutoring has taught me how to manage my time and stay focused. I also plan to continue my education at FAU while staying active in sports.

I feel most confident tutoring Algebra because I like how there’s always a clear solution if you follow the steps. I’ve helped my teammates with algebra homework on bus rides to games, and I’ve found I’m good at explaining it in a way that makes it less overwhelming.
